Jade Zabric’s music doesn’t fit into one genre because Jade Zabric has never fit into one genre. She grew up in Houston, Texas. She went to River Oaks Elementary, riding the school bus from the Heights from 5 – 17 years old. Both of her parents are American born Mexican, and so English was primarily spoken in the household. Her early musical influences are Sheryl Crow, No Doubt, Selena, Motown and 50’s Rock. She picked up the guitar at 12 and learned, “La Bamba” on the first day taught to her on Christmas by her Tio that gave her the guitar. She was able to sing and play at the same time three months after picking it up and has stuck with it ever since. She studied the Beatles’ music progressions over their career, how they went from playing 3 chord songs to experimenting with sounds and evolving with orchestras in their music. At 13 she auditioned and was accepted to study jazz guitar at the High School of Performing Arts, where she also performed with the Mariachi and Pop Bands. The artists that shaped her senior year of high school were Maroon 5, Jason Mraz, Black Eyed Peas and Outkast. Mostly inspired by songwriters, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Elton John. Her favorite guitar players are Santana, and Brad Paisley.

After High School, she served in the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant (E-5) after 5 years. Accounting and Finance was her official AFSC(job) however, for one year her service, she performed with a morale band as their first only female guitar player, where she performed Top 40 Pop music from the 50’s to 2000’s for military troops all over the world.

She began writing her own music at 14 and has since written over 100 songs, many of which are on her YouTube and Spotify. She has performed locally around New York City at some of the legendary clubs like, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End and SOB’s.

Jade currently works with Funkadelic Studios, a rehearsal/recording studio in Times Square. She recently graduated from Baruch College with a B.A. in Music Business and has even arranged a few of her original songs for a String Quartet! 😉
