Dear God, please forgive me but I don't want to be brown anymore
The kids at school are white and rich and they got both parents at home
I do my homework get good grades stay out of trouble but I feel so alone

I can tell they know I'm poor by just by looking at me
I can see their noses lifted up as if they can't breathe
I guess I play in the sand too much
Or maybe they got sticks up their butts

Cause either way this is the world that we're living in 
This is our world that's so much fairer to the fairer skinned
If I can choose a life of joy pain by trying to act white I'd rather stay in the shade

Three male suiters on my tail, 
Telling me I'm beautiful as two open the doors one asks me
Princess wont you say where you are from?
Must be Egyptian, Cleopatra won't you speak us in your tongue
Oh if they only knew, if they only knew
No lie, they were over me as soon as I told them the truth

Well can you blame me for not wanting to say?
I can't stand to see the look on your face
It's the same reaction I always get
