We are the American Dream
We are the American dream
My family was poor and now we have what we need
Food is on the table
There’s a roof above my head
And each of us has our own individual bed
We know how to read and write
We know how to clean
We know what hard work feels like
And we work as a team
Although I don’t know how to show it sometimes
I hope that they know it
That even though I seem closed off,
I’m totally open
I know if I need help they got me
and vice versa
Through rhymes I’m beginning to understand the meaning of life
Nothing is worth more than what what we work for
Respect is what we work towards
